Do go outdoors, AND Do a quick tick check.

Blog vol 4.47. Do go outdoors, AND Do a quick tick check.

Try saying “quick tick check” 10 times fast…

I take a week off at the beginning of May each year. I spend most of the year working inside in a dark room; it is time to get outside. I am positively itching to get out. I clean up flower beds, trim bushes, transplant, dig, clean out the garage and the car, open the pool, outdoor work. In our spare time, we walk at the RBG in Hamilton, around our neighbourhood, or sometimes in a really good year, a special destination (this is a really good year, folks, can’t tell you where we are going, it’s a secret).

So no big blog this week, just a reminder to be on the lookout for deer ticks. This is the annual infomercial on the perils of ticks and Lyme disease.  Consider yourself warned. We had a warm winter and that is good for ticks. (Read more here).

Be vigilant, but do get outside. It is so lovely this time of year. There is so much to see. Do not let a little tick scare you off, with due respect to the tick.

When you go back inside do a check. Refresh your mind on what you are looking for and what to do. LINK FOR LYME DISEASE CANADA

Then enjoy.

I have seen a “Tick Key” for sale by the cash at the local store.  This works for larger ticks, but you will still need tweezers to get the smaller nymphs and ticks.

Have a great week.
