Signs, signs, everywhere there’s signs

Blog vol 4.22. Signs, signs, everywhere there’s signs.

We finally did it. After 11 years at our newest location on Fairview in Burlington, we finally got ourselves an overhead sign for the front of the practice. The good people at Burlington Sign made it for us and installed it this past week. Burlington Eyecare is tucked into the elbow of the plaza and is not very visible especially when coming from the east so we had to position the sign carefully. It looks great!

It reminds me of other signs that I have seen over the years, some pretty hilarious. In my hometown of South Porcupine, Ontario we had a local family-run restaurant that had a sign in the window: “Come in and eat, before we both starve”. Here is a list of classics collected over time.

-       “We give fast service no matter how long it takes”

-       “Septic tanks pumped, swimming pools filled, not same truck”

-       At a drive-thru: “Free straw with drink purchase”

-       At a drive-thru: “Free tacos yesterday”

-       “I could agree but then we both would be wrong”

-       At a restaurant: “Now hiring good employees”

-       At a paint store: ”Husbands choosing paint colors must have a signed note from their wife”

-       For a child’s detective agency, Golden Detectives: “Tiny Detectives Answering Big Crimes”

-       At a church: “Too hot to keep changing signs. God good-Sin bad, details inside”

-       At another church: “Be the reason someone smiles today”

My favourite for the eye industry is: “If you can’t see what you are looking for, you have come to the right place”

Come and visit us and tell us how much you like the new sign and tell us that there was no way you were going to find us unless that spanking new sign was overhead.

Til next week,
