It is a Hawaiian word which has a rich meaning, according to Wikipedia, "Mahalo" means thanks, gratitude, admiration, praise, esteem, regards, or respects.  One word, much meaning.


When you come to Burlington Eyecare this Saturday, June 8, be ready to be greeted with “Mahalo”. It is our annual Maui Jim Day, the day in which we get every Maui Jim sunglass model, colour, and lens under one roof, and we invite you to take a look. We always have a selection of Maui Jim sunglasses on display and we can always order in whatever colour frame or lenses or style of sunglass you’d like to try. This works well, but Saturday is your chance to try whatever sunglass you like in person, on the spot, in succession. This is a lot of fun and you’d be surprised what looks good when you actually have it on your face. There are some really nice sunglasses in the Maui Jim line — whether your style is cool and with-it, classic and sophisticated, trendy and fun, or uniquely your own.


With summer upon us, this is the time to think about sun protection for your eyes (very important).   Some things to remember:


1. Not all sun protection is created equal. A lot of people buy sunglasses at the dollar store, gas station, or drug store. These sunglasses may do in a pinch, but have poor optical quality (you do get what you pay for most of the time). In Canada, all sunglasses must have UVA and UVB protection, but that is all.


2. Optical quality, really good lenses, do make a difference. That is why we appreciate Maui Jim sunglasses. They have crisp optics, even “digital” enhancing in certain wavelengths, complete polarization, and state of the art coatings (blocking UVA, UVB, UVC, and Blue light for when you are on your screen). When we dispense this product, we know we are getting you the best. 


3. Service. Maui Jim always comes to the party.  On the rare occasion when there is a problem (breakage a possibility), there is full warranty. It makes our job easy, getting parts and ensuring that you are a satisfied customer.
