Every Fall we look forward to the Bright Run hosted by Hamilton Health Sciences to raise funds for Breast Cancer Research, an event very dear to us at Burlington Eyecare. Our own Dr. Jerilee Nyman, a huge supporter of the Run, died of breast cancer 4 ½ years ago. Her family and friends are still carrying the torch and will be running/walking up to 5km of scenic trails this weekend.
The big event is being held once again at Christie Lake Conservation Area, 1000 Highway 5 West, Dundas. Events begin at 9:00 am and go until 12 noon. Mark your calendars for Saturday the 12th of September and synchronize your watches.
Hard to believe, but this event started in 2008 and has raised over 6.5 million dollars for research. There are over 200 volunteers each year and over 1700 participants. Come rain or shine, the Run carries on, no stopping or slowing the enthusiasm.
A silent auction, events for the kids, something for everyone. Lots of pink, and in spite of the name, no running necessary.
