Photo contest for Calendar 2027 — Birds and Burlington

Blog Vol 7.11. Photo contest for Calendar 2027 — Birds and Burlington

In April 2025, to commemorate 60 years of eye care in Burlington, we at Burlington Eyecare had a photo contest. The photos needed to represent the city of Burlington where Dr. Ron Watson opened up his clinic at Wellington Square in 1965. The photo contest was a huge success, and we scored some beautiful images so much so that we put together a calendar. We made a limited run and asked people to donate to the food bank as a purchase price. A win-win situation (I just love that kind of stuff).

We’re doing another photo contest for calendar 2027! Nikon is partnering with us again to sponsor the event. Proceeds again to go to the Burlington foodbank.

Prizes for the Burlington Eyecare Photography Contest:

1st place prize is $500 and a pair of Nikon spectacle lenses of your choice,

2nd place prize is $300.

3rd place prize is $200.

Twelve images will be published, one for each month in the calendar. All twelve people will receive a complimentary calendar. All money generated will go to the Burlington Foodbank.

This year’s theme will be Birds and Burlington. In case you didn’t know, we love birds at Burlington Eyecare. In six years of this blog, birds keep cropping up: ospreys, kestrels, bluebirds, red-tailed hawks, timberdoodles, and killdeer have all been highlighted, as well as binoculars, migration patterns, and night-lighting.

Head out with your camera and enjoy. There are so many beautiful birding spots in Burlington to enjoy including the Royal Botanical Gardens, Cootes Paradise, LaSalle Park, Shoreacres/Paletta Park, and my personal favourite, your own backyard.

The contest is open until November 15th. Learn more and enter HERE.

Looking forward to seeing what this year’s calendar will look like.

‘til next week,
