Dr. Jerilee Nyman was raised in Simcoe, ON. Dr. Nyman received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the King’s University College in Edmonton, AB. She then moved back to Ontario where she completed her Doctor of Optometry degree at the University of Waterloo, graduating in 2010 on the Dean’s Honours List. As part of her training, she received instruction under several skilled Ophthalmologists in Toronto with specialties in corneal disease, retinal pathology, glaucoma and refractive surgery. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists, Ontario Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists of Ontario.
Dr. Nyman knew she wanted to be an optometrist since she was just 9 years old, when she received her first pair of glasses. She was quite nearsighted but never knew it, until her school teacher recommended an eye exam. Since that time she has wanted to be just like her eye doctor, helping people see!
She has enjoyed travelling abroad with MMI (Medical Ministry International) Eye Care Teams helping in under-serviced areas and would love to continue doing this in the future.
Dr. Nyman has been happily married since 2006, her husband being born and raised in the Burlington/Waterdown area. She is the proud mom of two lovely little girls. In addition to work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.
