Pachymetry

Pachymetry is the measurement of corneal thickness.  Normally, it is approximately 525 microns – a micron is 1/1,000,000 of a metre.  We use a small ultrasound for this purpose. 

Corneal thickness is important in detecting keratoconus, glaucoma and is also required in pre-lasik assessment.
