Ophthalmoscopy
By use of a special instrument, called an ophthalmoscope, we can look directly into the eye to see the retina.
If you are a first time patient, or there is a disease or condition suspected, like a retinal detachment, we will put dilating drops in to open the pupils wide. This allows us to see into the four corners of the retina, giving us a good view of all retinal structures. It also allows us to look around cataracts that can partially block our view.
