Frequency Doubler

This instrument is used for early detection of visual field defects, especially glaucoma.  Certain visual cells in the LGN (Lateral Geniculate Nucleus) are insensitive to a frequency doubled pattern, when damaged by glaucoma.  This allows us to pick up glaucoma sooner than conventional field testing. 

At Burlington Eyecare, we put all patients over the age of 19 on our Frequency Doubler for every eye exam.
