Corneal Mapping

In High School geography, we were introduced to contour maps that allow us to see the land in three dimensions.  With computer graphics now available to us, we have ready access to three dimensional images of the land.  The cornea, which is the very front of the eye - sometimes called the “window of the eye”, has a 3D profile too. We fit contact lenses over the cornea and we sculpt it with laser to change the prescription, knowing the 3D dimensions of the cornea helps in custom fitting contact lenses in advanced Ortho-Keratology, and in Lasik procedures.
