Children's Eyesight and Eye Exam
It is imperitive that children be seen regularly in order to ensure the complete physical health of the eye. It’s critical that a child’s vision be assessed annually during these all important developmental years. With the increased exposure to Ultra violet light, it is essential that your child’s eyes be protected by a good quality pair of UV400 filtered sunglasses. For children wearing prescription, Transitions photochromic lenses are highly recommended as they absorb the harmful ultra-violet rays and protect your child’s eyes. Studies indicate that most of the damage caused by harmful ultraviolet rays has been done by the time a child reaches 11 years old.
Eye examinations are also beneficial in addressing issues for children with learning disabilities. (See Eye See Eye Learn page for more information.)
Burlington Eyecare is “family friendly” and welcomes children of all ages. Eye examinations are available to those as young as 6 months old, but stress the need to please ensure that your child has a complete eye examination by 4 years of age or prior to entering Jr. Kindergarten.
If there are existing heriditary ocular conditions within families, it is important that children also be screened for these conditions.
